Dried seeds of Cassia auriculata Linn., C.absus Linn. and C. fistula Linn. were collected from Javaathu hills, Tiruvannamalai District, Tamil Nadu, India for the comparative analysis of phyto-chemical potential with special reference to antioxidant activity. The active compounds were extracted with ethyl acetate, hexane and methanol. The methanol was found as suitable solvent and hence used for further extraction and analysis. The preliminary phytochemical screening of C. auriculata, C. absus C. fistula has revealed for the presence of alkaloids, phenolics and flavanoids in all the species. Absence of reducing sugars in C. absus, glucosides in C. auriculata and saponins in C. fistula were also observed. The quantitative determination of phenol and flavanoids was carried out in C. auriculata, C.absus and C. fistula and found that the total phenolic content as 0.18, 0.15, 0.11 and flavonoids 0.08, 0.092, 0.087% respectively. The antioxidant potential of the seed extracts recorded as much as 50% compared to α- tocopherol as standard. The Super oxide assay for the sample shows as 3% comparable to the standard α-tocopherol (5%). The Phosphomolybdenum assay and metal chelating activity indicate that the plant extract is a potential antioxidant. The details are presented in the present study.Keywords

Dried seeds of Cassia auriculata, C.absus and C.fistula were collected from the forest of Javaathu hills, Tiruvannamalai District, Tamil Nadu, India for the comparative analysis of antimicrobial activity and phyto-chemical potential. The active bio-compounds from the seeds of above plants were extracted with ethyl acetate, hexane and methanol and found methanol as a suitable solvent, hence used for further analysis. The phytochemical screening of the seeds showed the presence of alkaloids, phenolics and flavanoids in all species; glycosides in C.absus; reducing sugars in C.auriculata and C.fistula; non-reducing sugars in C.absus and C.fistula and Saponins in C.absus and C.auriculata from trace to higher amounts. The quantitative determination of phenol and flavanoids of methanolic seed extracts from C. auriculata, C.absus and C. fistula revealed total phenolic content as 0.18, 0.15, 0.11 and flavonoids 0.08, 0.092, 0.087% respectively. The antibacterial activity of methanolic seed extract was tested using agar well diffusion method and broth dilution method for the inhibitory effect. In the test for antimicrobial activity, methanol extracts show inhibition against almost all tested pathogens. C.absus showed higher zone of inhibition (ZOI) as 21 mm against Micrococcus luteus and as 17 cm against Klepsella pnuemoniae at 1000 μg concentration. But C.auriculata and C.fistula had moderate inhibitory effect on all the bacterial spceies from 500 μg to 1000 μg concentrations. The antifungal activity of C. absus, C.auriculata and C. fistula seed extracts were tested by agar well diffusion method and found to have inhibitory effect against all the tested fungi viz. Candida albicans, C.parapsilosis and C.tropicalis from 11 mm to 21 mm ZOI. Our study provides the scientific validation for their traditional use in medicinal applications.Keywords

The proposed approach used in this paper is meant for reduction of the salt and pepper noise which heavily corrupts the images. The main aim of the corresponding approach is to analyze the Bicubic splines for denoising .The algorithm used here employs interpolation property which plays a central role in Bicubic Spline. Different special case conditions are considered while using Bicubic splines for noise reduction. The projected Algorithm are compared with the other active Algorithms like SMF, AMF, CWF, aTDF, TMF, PSMF, DBA, IDBA, MDBMF. The comparison results of the above method shows the first-class performance. Experimental testing are done on the projected algorithm using different image file formats. As a result, the proposed algorithm shows 90% efficiency.

Background/Objectives: In this paper a clear focus on pricing of the GENeration COmpanies (GENCO) has been dealt with. GENCO participate in day-ahead power pool trading to maximize their profit in the energy market. Methods/Statistical Analysis: Since the self-scheduling problem is a highly non-linear, non-convex mixed-integer optimization problem, conventional methods for optimizing may suffer excessive computational burden. This paper incorporates the method for determining the Locational Marginal Pricing with and without congestion due to over load and gives an observation of the ways to overcome this critical situation in the deregulated energy market using Power World Simulator (PWS) software for 3-bus system and IEEE 9-bus system Findings: In the case of Locational Marginal Pricing (LMP) forecasting, the main challenge is to forecast the volatile prices accurately in a day-ahead market. The PWS software used for test cases considered indicates that the output information is obtained at the short time frame which ultimately reduces the computation burden existed earlier in the conventional method Applications: The proposed methodology will be helpful for the generating company to forecast the Locational Marginal Pricing for both with and without congestion due to over load and rescheduling of generators will be carried out accordingly in the deregulated energy market within a very short time frame.Keywords

Background/Objectives: To propose a new fusion technique for combining optical and IR images and validate the proposed technique with the existing techniques using entropy as an evaluating measure. Methods/Statistical Analysis: In this paper we propose a new pixel level fusion method using Continuous Genetic Algorithm (CGA) using Heuristiccrossover for reproduction. Findings: Pixel level Fusion methods are computationally less complex and converge quickly. The proposed approach is applied on multispectral images which are used in applications like multispectral face recognition, Medical imaging, Remote Sensing etc. The proposed algorithm requires less memory space and has less computational complexity. Conclusion/Improvements: An increase in the entropy of the fused image indicates that there is an increase in the overall information content. The proposed technique is implemented on a set of visual and thermal images and an increase in the entropy value of the fused image is observed.Keywords

Background/Objectives: Contrast enhancement is an important stage in uncooled thermal images as uncooled thermal images are low-contrast images. Histogram equalization is the widely used technique for contrast enhancement of images. Methods/Statistical Analysis: The proposed method for contrast enhancement is based on plateau histogram equalisation. It preserves all the benefits of classical histogram equalisation but does not extend the contrast of background enormously24. Plateau histogram equalization technique is one of the contrast enhancement techniques where the pels count is limited to an inception value defined based on histogram properties. Findings: In comparing the results of proposed contrast enhancement system, the image has been significantly enhanced without enhancing the background gray levels and the noise and thereby increasing the brightness preservation and harvested a more natural enhancement. Applications/Improvements: The proposed technique on thermal images provides a good enhancement, which is difficult to achieve with traditional Histogram equalization technique on thermal images. The proposed algorithm is tested on raw images, gain corrected images, and Gain and Offset corrected images and achieved satisfactory results.Keywords

In agriculture, conventional breeding takes a longer time for the development of crop varieties with a minimum of 810 years of breeding cycles. In the context of breeding, rapid generation advancement of segregating populations towards reaching homozygosity will facilitate genetic gain for key traits and the rapid development of improved cultivars. Extra-terrestrial experiments by NASA, USA, to grow crop seeds in space inspired scientists in the University of Queensland and University of Sydney in Australia to develop a speed-breeding platform. Speed breeding uses an artificial environment with enhanced light duration to create longer daylight regimes to speed up the breeding cycles of photoinsensitive crops.References

Tuberculosis is an infectious airborne, chronic granulomatous bacterial disease which requires a prolonged treatment to get a complete cure and prevent death, relapse, resistance to drugs and spreading it to the community. Present study was focused on treatment defaulters among tuberculosis patients receiving dots therapy. A prospective observational study was carried out in the in-patient and outpatient department of pulmonary medicine and other departments with dots referral in a hospital setting for a period of eight months from September 2017- April 2018. During the study period all the patients who was administered with dots therapy for the treatment of tuberculosis were enrolled as per the study criteria. All the patients were interviewed to know there treatment status and also monitored there ADR to check compliance with dots therapy. All the datas were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Out of 90 patients, 21 patients interrupted the treatment, of which 12 were defaulters. The overall percentage of the default to the treatment was 13.3%. The case fatality rate was 4.4%. The mean age of defaulting was found to be 53.3 years and the highest percentage were in the age group 50-65years. Male patients, rural domicile, patients pursuing primary education, pulmonary TB patients were high among the defaulters. Distance (58.3%) transportation (25%), staying alone (16.7%), workload (25%) were the general problems felt by the defaulters. 41.7% were dissatisfied with the behavior of dots provider and 50% of them did not have family support. Patients interrupted treatment in there early phases (41.7% in intensive phase and 58% in early continuous phase). The reasons to default were feeling of wellbeing after the treatment (41.7%), side effects (25.0%). Migration, non-availability of medicines, affording transport charges, medical issues were the other reasons (8.3%). Out of 90 patients, 17 (18.9%) patients came out with a total of 24 ADRs. From this only 2 patients had defaulted from the treatment due to intolerance from the medicational Side effects. ADR monitoring improved the knowledge (from 4.9 to 8.2) and treatment (1.2 to 2.5) of the patient in the current study. From the study we came to conclude that Defaulting was seen mainly due to unawareness, carelessness, disbelief of the treatment method. This can be enhanced by patient education, interviewing them periodically, Monitoring the treatment condition and side effects. So the Clinical pharmacists is responsible in promoting the dots therapy to improve the patients adherence towards it, there by achieving a well treatment outcome.Keywords

Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) innovation paralleled the growth of Personal Computers (PC) and telecommunication industries. ATMs have become very popular with the general public for their availability and general user friendliness. To date, most information systems authenticate their users by the use of passwords or Personal Identification Number (PIN). The existing selfbanking system has got very high popularity with 24 hours service. The ATM is activated by placing the card, then entering the pin number of the specific card. Passwords remain dominant means of authentication in today’s systems because of their ease, legacy deployment and ease of withdrawal. In a password or PIN based system, it is assumed that all parts of the system are trustworthy. It is assumed that the end user device is free from any untrustworthy activities such as password sniffing or system snapping.
Personal identification based on biometrics has been receiving extensive attention in public security and information security domains. Biometrics are automated methods of recognizing a person based on a physiological or behavioral characteristic. The use of biological characteristics such that “something you are” (i.e., the fingerprint) has always been a better identification method rather than “something you know”. Biometric-based solutions are able to provide for confidential financial transactions and personal data privacy. The various features used are face, fingerprints, hand geometry, handwriting, iris, retina, vein and voice. Fingerprinting or finger-scanning technologies are the oldest of the biometric sciences and utilize distinctive features of the fingerprint to identify or verify the identity of individuals.
